The wallet includes built-in DEX aggregation for swapping and bridging, ensuring that a user can move assets from an obscure chain into spendable USDC without leaving the application.

The card itself is issued in three tiers: a free virtual card, a PVC physical card, and a premium metal card known as Cypher Gold. A significant differentiator for the company is its fee structure. Cypher offers zero-fee loading for USDC, attacking a major pain point where competitors often take a percentage cut of every deposit. For travelers and international users, they offer competitive currency conversion fees and global shipping for physical cards.

Control and programmability

Unlike traditional banking apps that offer static controls, Cypher provides a high degree of granular control over capital. Users can adjust spending limits from $5 to $500,000 via a real-time slider in the app. This feature is paired with an auto top-up function that monitors wallet balances and loads the card when it drops below a user-defined threshold. These programmable features move the card away from being a simple debit tool and toward becoming a financial management layer.

The company was founded by Kuberan Marimuthu, Muthukrishnan Ramabadran, and Dheeban Srinivasan Govindarajan, who raised seed funding in 2022 to scale the banking gateway. Their strategy relies on the assumption that as more users earn or hold wealth on-chain, they will demand a non-custodial experience that doesn't sacrifice the utility of a traditional bank account.
