The ccNSO Universal Acceptance Committee work session began with welcomes and an introduction of the committee's leadership, then framed the UAC's role as bridging ccTLDs with the wider Universal Acceptance ecosystem and developing technical and policy work to promote adoption.
The chair presented eight emerging themes from prior UAC discussions and a SurveyMonkey-based quadrant assessment intended to identify a small number of priorities the committee could realistically pursue. Participants who spoke supported themes 1, 4 and 5, citing email as a front door, awareness and user experience, and testing environments; the chair later described this as a majority recommendation rather than a formal vote.
Attendees then split into three on-site breakout stations, with remote participants invited to contribute through Google Docs, to brainstorm actions the UAC could take within its limited resources. Reports proposed an inventory of popular mail software, product and testing milestones, webinars and university/ccTLD partnerships, and public-sector use of IDN email.
The session closed with a plan to evaluate input and continue at the next UAC meeting; no formal work plan was adopted.
TL;DR
- The UAC used survey results to focus discussion on themes 1, 4 and 5, with the chair describing this as a majority recommendation rather than a formal vote.

MTS - Video: If you would like to speak during this session, please raise your hand in Zoom. When called upon, virtual participants will unmute their microphone. On-site participants will use a physical microphone to speak.
MTS - Video: For the benefit of other participants, please state your name for the record and speak at a reasonable pace. Thank you, and with that, I will now hand the floor over to Sami Mohammed Ali, Chair of the USC. Thank you.
MTS - Video: Good morning, good afternoon, good evening for whoever is joining from wherever. Thank you, Claudia, for the introduction.
MTS - Video: I would like to start by saying, assalamu alaikum. This is Arabic for peace be on you, and as we are chairing the Universal Acceptance Committee, so we would like to promote all the different languages and communication, as well as within the…
MTS - Video: Internet, when it comes to the, universal acceptance.
MTS - Video: So, starting with this, first of all, can we have the slide?
MTS - Video: And just to introduce, I have Vice Chair Maria with me from Russia.
MTS - Video: So we have the current agenda. We also have remote participants, and Vice Chair Regina is attending remotely. Okay, I was trying to connect to zoom, and I was unable. Just give me a sec.
MTS - Video: So do we have Regina on camera? Can we show her?
MTS - Video: Or get her to say hello?
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Hi, hello from Krak.
MTS - Video: Mariana.
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Thanks to Indonesia. Hi Sami, hello.
Regina Fuchsova .eu: So, we will probably introduce the new leadership of the… of the Universal Acceptance Committee, and, the Chair and, Vice Chair. One of the Vice Chair is there present in person, but please do not hesitate to reach to any of us with the topics related to Universal Acceptance. Thank you.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Regina, for that.
MTS - Video: introduction. So just going through the agenda, we'll be, as I mentioned, the introduction, and we would just like to highlight the role that UAC would be playing during the coming
MTS - Video: term, which will be about bridging CCTLDs with the ecosystem of universal acceptance, and sharing information and developing the relevant.
MTS - Video: Technical as well as political policies to promote and create more adoption when it comes to universal acceptance.
MTS - Video: We have done a lot of work in the past 3 years with our previous leadership of UAC and the UAC Committee, and narrowed down the whole process to a certain number of.
MTS - Video: themes that we will share during the presentation, and from there, we will work on developing action plan for the UAC committee, as well as the wider ccTLD community to work towards adoption, and hopefully having a positive.
MTS - Video: promotion of… creating more adoption within the community when it comes to universal acceptance and IDNs.
MTS - Video: You okay? Would you like to take over from the next slide?
MTS - Video: I think that was my mistake. Sorry.
MTS - Video: out of habit, I opened my microphone in Zoom as well. So, what you see here on this slide are some examples of, UAC work that really works. So, there have been a few.
MTS - Video: initiatives in the past regarding universal acceptance that, where the UAC actively played a role.
MTS - Video: One of them, for instance, is the contribution in relationship building with universities. So the Universal Acceptance Committee welcomed
MTS - Video: a guest presentation from colleagues at ICANN Org regarding cooperation between ICANN and universities regarding the curriculum for UA at universities. There was also.
MTS - Video: past initiatives regarding UA Day, and colleagues can definitely speak more about that, but however, CCTLDs and the Universal Acceptance Committee has been actively contributing to UA Day events.
MTS - Video: Including, for instance, the selection of certain initiatives, where the UAC played a role as well.
MTS - Video: Furthermore, USC developed a two pager about universal acceptance.
MTS - Video: And that is really a short document with some information about what universal acceptance is, how CCTLDs can play a role, and it's a document which is supposed to be evergreen and can always be shared with those interested if needed.
MTS - Video: Sami, was that what you wanted me to introduce? Any additional comments?
MTS - Video: No, thank you. Thank you, Yuki.
MTS - Video: Can we go to the next slide, please?
MTS - Video: So… so we… prior to the UAC meeting, we went through the SurveyMonkey to do.
MTS - Video: evaluation of how UAC can support in the themes that have been created over the past year for promoting UA adoption.
MTS - Video: And, from the results, can we go to the next slide to give them a…
MTS - Video: An understanding of how the teams are.
MTS - Video: So there were 8 emerging themes that were derived from the discussions of UAC and the work that went through in the last year.
MTS - Video: So email is the front door and is often locked.
MTS - Video: Was considered to be the first theme when it comes to your adoption.
MTS - Video: One weak gate breaks the whole chain, so it's about, legacy security concerns that each organization has currently.
MTS - Video: government move markets, so it's more of, how government policies and government projects can engage and develop the UA adoption.
MTS - Video: So, awareness, again, people fear what they don't… they never know, so having different languages online was another issue that we need to build on in terms of when it comes for awareness, that people tasted, so.
MTS - Video: an environment for testing such services and UA services is what we want to look at as well. Part of the…
MTS - Video: teams show the money. It's, again, economical factor when it comes to looking at how the business will develop and how we can promote UA.
MTS - Video: The new frontier, AI Must Learn UA, is another… is a very important point when it comes to the current infrastructure we have with AI being pushed in each government organization, or each organization around the world.
MTS - Video: So, they should be able to comply with UA and support the UA development.
MTS - Video: And.
MTS - Video: Names carry identity is more of a pride of individual identity when it comes to using your own language or your own.
MTS - Video: Entity as a country, and cultural representation when it's a language.
MTS - Video: Next slide, please.
MTS - Video: So, I don't want to go into the graph more, because this is what the results are, and these are the themes. If we can have the next slide where we can show the…
MTS - Video: yeah, the quadrants of where… so the whole idea of this exercise was to identify top 3 themes that we can work on in the next year as a work plan, part of the UAC committee, and the wider ccTLD community, identify
MTS - Video: some volunteer CCTLDs to take over and work on these themes.
MTS - Video: Produce results, and then we share it and pass on.
MTS - Video: So it can be a… no one needs to replicate the same kind of task, and we create, for example, an email server in Arabic in one country, send it across to another country, they can use the same replica, same applies to Russian language, Chinese language, wherever we have
MTS - Video: Multiple nations using the same language, we can replicate that process to save the time.
MTS - Video: So, let me just highlight the UAC's bridging gap will be…
MTS - Video: Or the three themes that have come up are email server being the first, or email use to support with the UA adoption. Second was the awareness and capacity building within the community, and…
MTS - Video: The third is more of an,
MTS - Video: test environment to be shared among different CCTLDs and different language-speaking nations to have a flavor of how the emails work in their own language and give them a taste of how it is used.
MTS - Video: And we will be working on all the themes and promoting the…
MTS - Video: UAC's main objective of bridging the gap between the CCTLDs and the UA service providers or UA content providers, and depending on that, we will…
MTS - Video: promote these themes.
MTS - Video: You okay? Do you have a comment?
MTS - Video: Thanks, Sami. So, indeed, so the bridge role is very, very important here. It's also, as you can see, a small committee, even though we welcome any input from those that are not
MTS - Video: a member of the committee. But in the end, the work needs to be done
MTS - Video: by the UAC. So, in order to make sure that we come up with something realistic, the idea was to look at these eight themes, because it's clear that the committee cannot undertake all of them. It doesn't mean that some are less important than others. However.
MTS - Video: The idea of the survey was really to prioritize or to come up with some assessment, like what are the themes that are.
MTS - Video: relevant to multiple regions, and where do you think UAC can play a role in each of those 8 themes?
MTS - Video: So, out of the results of the SurveyMonkey questionnaire, well, the results are now
MTS - Video: put in a visible format in these four quadrants. And as you can see on the quadrants, they're… the focus of your survey responses was towards the right of the vertical axis.
MTS - Video: Which means, some of the themes have been identified as being really of high relevance.
MTS - Video: Where there could potentially be a big role for the UAC to play in those themes, whereas for others, at the bottom right quadrant, you can see that there are some of the actions were identified as, potential
MTS - Video: as potential.
MTS - Video: options. And, yeah, so those have been parked for the moment. So the first question would be, now that you see the results of the survey being visually available to you, do you agree with that assessment? Do you agree that
MTS - Video: Emerging themes number 5, number 4, and number 1.
MTS - Video: stand out as the priority, the future priority for UAC?
MTS - Video: Anybody that would like to speak to that.
MTS - Video: Okay, Maria Kolesnikova for the record. So, I think that, my impression from this survey was that we were recognizing the main problems connected with universal acceptance adoption, and what is felt by the people.
MTS - Video: around the world, exactly CCTLD representatives. So, I think that, for example, email, as a front door, this is the really big topic.
MTS - Video: And this is, the most functional, thing that should be done, because, many ccTLDs, meet… face this barrier when we talk about the IDN support and, better usage by.
MTS - Video: users. So, it means that, yes, I agree, for example, with this point. As for the 4 and 5 topics, I think that, it reflects, more.
MTS - Video: the attitude of CCTLDs to the, how grow IDNs, because, many CCTLDs still face the problem with.
MTS - Video: the amount of registered domain names, second-level domain names in the IDNCCTLD, so it means that still, some questions regarding marketing of IDNs, promoting them, making popular, it's still, thing that we need to talk about and think about.
MTS - Video: And, of course, it's very well connected with universal acceptance adoption problems, also. And, regarding the…
MTS - Video: 0.5. Separately, I want to add that this was discussed in our committee, and the idea was to set some testing
MTS - Video: between, testbeds, EIE test-ready testbeds that are already exist, for example, in some CCTLDs, who works on universal acceptance. So, we talked, for example, that it can be done, like, some…
MTS - Video: Active testing, but also, we…
MTS - Video: plan to discuss, some action items regarding these priorities. So this will be the next step, and we will see what Universal Acceptance Committee can do, else. Thank you.
MTS - Video: Any other comments, Regina, do you have?
MTS - Video: Anything to add?
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Hello.
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Regina Fukshova for records. We already discussed it, when we went through the survey, that.
Regina Fuchsova .eu: I think it's not surprising, like, this, categorization and…
Regina Fuchsova .eu: I would see the most possible progress also with this point 4 and 5, and I don't think it's connected only with the marketing of the ccTLD, but really with
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Like, the way how people… like, not the marketing of domain names, but the way how people
Regina Fuchsova .eu: use and think about the internet tools. And I think this is very important. And it was already mentioned that the universal acceptance curricula, we see a high potential as well, because there is connection with universities at many levels, at the local level, with the CCTLDs.
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Okay.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Regina. Dr. Sarmad, would you like to comment on these themes? Because from the UA expert working group, we have had something similar when it comes to the…
MTS - Video: type of, not themes, but the action items came out from the Universal Acceptance Working Group.
MTS - Video: Are they in line with the ICANN's… proposed approach of.
MTS - Video: working towards developing the UA adoption.
MTS - Video: So, as far as the guidelines, are concerned, there are two, I think, levels the guidelines address. One is more global level, which, talks about, of course, that the underlying tools
MTS - Video: and big tech applications should be UA ready. Of course, that's a separate discussion.
MTS - Video: Then, obviously, it is important that the capacity locally obviously should be developed as well. So that those tools and resources which are already actually UA ready
MTS - Video: can actually be put in use. And that's where I think some of these themes come into play.
MTS - Video: This is also especially important, because when we talk to big tech organizations, and we, you know, we're talking to them to support UA, they are looking for more examples of use.
MTS - Video: And that's something which obviously can be produced, from ground up. And these, some of these items are directly tackling
MTS - Video: That kind of, issue to build capacity, but to lead eventually to actual use of these domain names and email addresses.
MTS - Video: So so yes, I think these are aligned. And you know, as from ICANN perspective as well, we'd be happy to provide any support which is needed. Thank you.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Sami. So, I think we can repeat the question, whether UAC agrees that item 1, 4, and 5 are indeed the focus priorities to further explore?
MTS - Video: I see the hand. Anna Karakhanian wants to say something.
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: Hello, my name is Anna Karakhanyan from Registry AM High, and I absolutely agree with Regina that 4 and 5
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: are very important points, because of… I remember that.
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: In Armenia, internet began to work.
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: it can say this way. After Skype, because, as you know, Armenia has a very big diaspora in the whole world, and they need to contact their relatives, and they, began to.
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: use, Skype, Adna Klasnik, etc. And, the.
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: before, before taste it, before use it, they, we will give them possibility to, try it. Thank you.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Anna and Sami for the record.
MTS - Video: So, okay, answering the question of, from the UAC, it seems that there is a majority
MTS - Video: Recommendation that these three teams should be the one.
MTS - Video: To initiate work plan for next year for the UAAC and the community.
MTS - Video: And using that, we were also gonna request, if Masha, if I remember correctly, about, the discussion was to get involved more CCTLDs.
MTS - Video: To work in smaller group and discuss this further.
MTS - Video: So, yeah, thank you. Thank you for bringing the slide up.
MTS - Video: Yeah.
MTS - Video: Sorry, you were gonna… if you want, I'm happy to explain the the exercise. So
MTS - Video: The idea was to further think about potential actions. So now that UAC has identified Theme 1, 4, and 5 as priority themes.
MTS - Video: It is time to think on how to execute on those themes. And that is why we would like to do some brainstorming today. So what you see here in the room are three corners.
MTS - Video: Quarter 1.
MTS - Video: 4… And five?
MTS - Video: So 1, 4, and 5.
MTS - Video: And, the idea is to, gather around those corners and start with the brainstorming. For those that attend remotely, we have some Google documents prepared. I will pass them in the chat, so you can contribute, remotely via the Google Docs as well.
MTS - Video: After this session, we will evaluate all input, both from the session here on-site and those from remote participants, and yeah, we'll come back to further evaluation at the next meeting, I presume.
MTS - Video: Thanks, Sami.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Yuki. Sami for the record. So, can I request.
MTS - Video: People to gather around 1, 4, and 5, depending on what their preference is, or what they have ideas on how we can work towards implementation.
MTS - Video: And we can work on some kind of, drafting
MTS - Video: Some work items or action items for the next few months from that.
MTS - Video: And we will have around 15 minutes?
MTS - Video: If I'm not wrong.
MTS - Video: Or… Confirm.
MTS - Video: Sorry. 15 min for sure. Maybe a little bit more. We'll let you know.
MTS - Video: Okay, so we can start with 15 minutes for the…
MTS - Video: I I also suggest to choose chairs of the groups. So who will lead the work?
MTS - Video: I can take email if possible. So
MTS - Video: Yeah, go ahead. You will. What, Sami? Do you want to lead some group?
MTS - Video: Okay, now you, everyone who is in the room, you can join and choose the group that you want. In this corner, regarding the ERA support.
MTS - Video: This corner about the user experience, lets people taste it, how to work with IDNs, and the fourth one is…
MTS - Video: Alejandra will help us. Thank you, Alejandra, very much.
MTS - Video: This is, for the discussion of, why, users.
MTS - Video: I would rephrase, how to motivate users to use ADNs more, and
MTS - Video: What they feel about iDance, okay?
MTS - Video: So we have, 50 or 40 minutes, then we will, come back from the groups and.
MTS - Video: discuss the actions. So, I don't know if it's clear for everyone what we are doing here. So, we have prioritizations. So, in groups, we need to discuss what exactly Universal Acceptance Committee of ccNSO can do on its behalf.
MTS - Video: And, taking into account the resources that we have in the committee.
MTS - Video: Thank you.
MTS - Video: Hello, all.
MTS - Video: Hello all, just to let you know that we will continue with the discussion for one more minute, and then we report back on a per-station basis. Thank you.
MTS - Video: So, one more minute, starting now.
MTS - Video: Like, that's the reaching out.
MTS - Video: Time is up.
MTS - Video: So, thank you very much. If you could please take your seats again, and We would love to hear your input regarding the discussions at the stations.
MTS - Video: Thanks all.
MTS - Video: So who would like to start with the reporting? Maybe station 4.
MTS - Video: Sorry, hi, we'll start with Station 5, Katrina, because they were the first one to conclude.
MTS - Video: Kristina, sorry, my bad.
MTS - Video: Station 1, if you could please take your seats, and we are now moving to the reporting from Station 5. Thank you.
MTS - Video: 2
MTS - Video: On the box.
MTS - Video: Music. That's okay.
MTS - Video: Hi.
MTS - Video: No problem, no problem, it's okay. No, let me test this.
MTS - Video: Hello, everyone. My name is Kristina, I'm from .am.highcctld, and I'm very happy to be here and presenting our thoughts on, let people taste it. So…
MTS - Video: The first point is the action, so we identified that, first of all, you should create a product, then, spread the information, between the
MTS - Video: different stakeholders to combine them to start registering this product and
MTS - Video: Like, expressing their interest in it.
MTS - Video: Then, we, identified the testing period for this… for the trial, so to understand, is the created product working or not, or is there any kind of technical problems, or maybe something
MTS - Video: It's not working, and then we'll understand what is…
MTS - Video: Our issue when we are creating this product.
MTS - Video: What about the bridging? We see that the different stakeholders should participate in the process of
MTS - Video: creating a product, or maybe some regulations which is connected with the government. Government should
MTS - Video: like make discussions with the technical community, and they should promote
MTS - Video: like, technical community should promote that it is necessary for the different platforms to have the technical readiness for accepting universal acceptance, or even, like, registering IDN, or using it in the public services.
MTS - Video: of… We also identified that we should go to
MTS - Video: promoting a curriculum, we should go to academia, because if government is ready to accept universal acceptance, but maybe there is not enough technical persons who are ready to like include in their products
MTS - Video: like universal acceptance elements.
MTS - Video: What ask of CCTL this?
MTS - Video: The Ctld first put Make some marketing programs with promoting the ideas.
MTS - Video: And also asking for the feedback to understand what is, like.
MTS - Video: Working what is not to, include, of course, including registrars to the process of, promoting, and, when, we go to different registries, we see that, with end users working, not the registries, but registrars.
MTS - Video: Registry should provide with the technical part to registrars to keep the potential users with them, and end users have to report when there is a problem.
MTS - Video: Oh.
MTS - Video: 6 months… 6 months is milestone. We identify, like, the… the product have to… the product should be created in 6 months.
MTS - Video: may be created, I'm sorry, in 6 months. The promotion of UA curriculum to academia can happen in 6 months. Experience sharing can, as an action, can be during the 6 months.
MTS - Video: And that's what we identify, the milestone for 6 months is. And success is a very interesting part that
MTS - Video: If anything goes, like, smoothly or good, you should have returning customers. This will be, like, indicator of a success… a successful story, let's say. Then.
MTS - Video: Oh.
MTS - Video: What is this? Registrations, yes. Increasing of registrations also is a successful story, and
MTS - Video: If not, if the registrations are not increasing, that means that you should have some, bike…
MTS - Video: Feedbacks from the testing period, what was good and what was not.
MTS - Video: That's… Yeah.
MTS - Video: I'm sorry for interrupting. So, I don't know if you are discussed it within group or not, but the question is, so we are talking about the actions that, Universal Acceptance Committee can take. So, if we are talking about the product, so you discussed it, as a…
MTS - Video: We should do it as a committee.
MTS - Video: Or we should somehow to connect with someone who can make this product? That's the question, because
MTS - Video: This… yes, so we are talking about, yeah, the bridging role of our committee, because we have no so much resources and people, and we have no… some budget.
MTS - Video: So to release some products. Let me paraphrase all of these points.
MTS - Video: One minute, okay. So we can, as a committee, you can go to the registries for the actions. You can bridge, like, government from different, countries.
MTS - Video: I mean, to work with their community, to promote curriculum to academia. Then, you can, connect the CCTLDs to make, like, marketing things.
MTS - Video: ask for the feedbacks, etc. So I think, all I, like, express during this
MTS - Video: previous minutes, just paraphrasing, going your way.
MTS - Video: Yeah, to register. Yeah, to register it. And, lead, who will lead? You know, it depends on the country, because.
MTS - Video: In some countries, the registries are leading the process. In some countries, governments, it depends on to whom you should go in that exact country. That's the question. And the success, 6 months.
MTS - Video: 6-month milestones goes like this. I don't think that we should change something here. And success, you will just make an assessment of the processes you have done during these 6 months, or maybe, like, working with the registry, with the…
MTS - Video: I don't know, with the government in some countries, with the academia, and, like, assessment will show you how successful was your, like.
MTS - Video: What will happen if you won't find registration?
MTS - Video: I'm sorry?
MTS - Video: wallace What will happen if we won't find the registry that will implement it?
MTS - Video: What will me? I don't know. I hope global success.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Maria. Thank you, Kristina, and team 5. Thank you, Kristina, very much.
MTS - Video: For this, can we have a quick round with… Okay. Team one, Maria, quick. I will. Two minutes. Yes, I will try. Actually, so we discussed, we have a group with, Sarmad and Seda and I can representative, so that's why we were very focused.
MTS - Video: So, we formulated just one, action that, probably can be taken, by our committee, so it, means the collection of data about the local
MTS - Video: popular and well-spread, mail software. Particularly, we have talked about mail servers, but, probably… So we can share it.
MTS - Video: activity. So, the, the…
MTS - Video: It means that Universal Acceptance Committee can prepare some survey to gather information from IDN registries, or, which is probably better, from registrars, who are usually hosting providers.
MTS - Video: So, because they have this technical information. So, action is together.
MTS - Video: To make the list of popular mail software, bridge. So, okay, the committee can, connect with registrars, hosting providers, and IDNCCTLDs.
MTS - Video: Ask for CCTLDs. Okay, I have already do it. What we need to ask? We need to ask them what, mail software, if…
MTS - Video: Used in their countries.
MTS - Video: Right now.
MTS - Video: And, success will be like the report.
MTS - Video: Based on this survey.
MTS - Video: Which will be shared with ICANN.
MTS - Video: For their further work.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Maria. Thank you for the quick one, Margarita. Can we have…
MTS - Video: Your quick summary of Team 4, please.
MTS - Video: Okay.
MTS - Video: Well.
MTS - Video: Fear of — well, this is a group 4, and the question is a fear of what haven't been tried.
MTS - Video: Just
MTS - Video: So.
MTS - Video: First of all, we need to say that, something that we need to face is that this issue about universal acceptance is normally, been talking about, more or less the same people.
MTS - Video: And probably we know the importance of this, but we are not… perhaps not so efficient in order to have this storytelling outside of this community.
MTS - Video: So the challenge is, well, if it works, what is the benefit, and how can we impact other communities that are our final or end users at the end. So the actions were suggested that, like webinars, educational workshops, and
MTS - Video: And the bridge could be first, and the first site, universities and ccTLD access.
MTS - Video: And if we could have asked something of CCDLEs, it's, for example, identify partners, associations, universities, and testing projects using universal acceptance of IDMs.
MTS - Video: And in terms of lead and backup.
MTS - Video: CCDLE, an organization that could help in order to spread this importance, and how the.
MTS - Video: ideas or universal acceptance could be helpful for communities. And the first milestone that we could have, if we can dream about it, is, how, we can have incentives to use it, and the success for us, as the very first milestone, it could… is…
MTS - Video: To have IDNs to be — how we can have IDNs to be.
MTS - Video: Use it, okay, used in public entities, for example. If, end users of the public services, for example, have the opportunity to use IDN's emails, and you fill an application, for example, and it works.
MTS - Video: Thank you. Thank you, Margarita.
MTS - Video: Thanks. There was also one question, who will lead this forward?
MTS - Video: Have you discussed it?
MTS - Video: Okay.
MTS - Video: In, yeah, in CCTLDs, yes, organization, yeah, I think so.
MTS - Video: Cicero Diaz, yes, at the very beginning.
MTS - Video: Thank you.
MTS - Video: And the question is… sorry, sorry, I'm sorry. It's for Kristina, so because we have… we discussed that, the survey can be, lead.
MTS - Video: by me, for example. Of course, we will discuss it in the committee, how it will be done, but this was just a suggestion. So, my suggestion to Kristina, probably Armenian registry can lead also the project with AI testbed, because you have it, and we also have it, and Chinese registry also have it. We can discuss it somehow, probably do.
MTS - Video: together.
MTS - Video: Thanks, Masha. Thank you, everybody, for the contributions to the discussion. I think we have some further work and analysis to do. It's very valuable to have your input here today, and let's discuss at the next UAC meeting. Back to you, Sami.
MTS - Video: Thank you, Yuki, Sami for the record, and thank you everyone who participated in the team discussion. Hopefully we have some good, concrete decisions and action plan from now on for working towards the next year, 2027 work plan, and have some positive
MTS - Video: impactful results.
MTS - Video: when it comes to UA adoption. Thank you, everyone, and have a good day, and a good ICANN meeting.
MTS - Video: Bye.
Anna Karakhanyan .am/.հայ: Bye bye. Thank you.
Regina Fuchsova .eu: Thank you. Bye-bye.

# ccNSO: Universal Acceptance Committee Work Session AI-generated summary The ccNSO Universal Acceptance Committee work session began with welcomes and an introduction of the committee's leadership, then framed the UAC's role as bridging ccTLDs with the wider Universal Acceptance ecosystem and developing technical and policy work to promote adoption. TL;DR - The UAC used survey results to focus discussion on themes 1, 4 and 5, with the chair describing this as a majority recommendation rather than a formal vote. - Breakout stations proposed an inventory of popular mail software, product/testing milestones, awareness webinars and university/ccTLD partnerships, and public-sector IDN email use; the reports were brainstorming, not adopted decisions. - Next steps are to evaluate on-site and remote input and continue at the next UAC meeting. Main discussion - The session framed the UAC's coming term around a bridging role: connecting ccTLDs with the Universal Acceptance ecosystem and developing technical and policy work to increase UA and IDN adoption. - A SurveyMonkey exercise mapped the themes into quadrants to assess relevance across regions and where UAC could add value; the aim was to pick top themes for a next-year work plan and recruit volunteer ccTLDs, not to rank other themes as unimportant. - Speakers Maria Kolesnikova, Regina Fuchsova and Anna Karakhanyan supported themes 1, 4 and 5: Maria stressed email and IDN marketing, Regina stressed how people use internet tools and UA curricula, and Anna agreed that themes 4 and 5 matter. - Breakout reports proposed actions rather than adopted commitments: Station 5 outlined product creation, promotion, testing, six-month milestones and success indicators; Station 1 proposed surveying registrars or hosting providers about popular mail software and sharing a report with ICANN; Station 4 proposed webinars/workshops, university and ccTLD partnerships, and public-sector IDN email use as a success example. - The facilitator said input from on-site and remote participants would be evaluated after the session and revisited at the next UAC meeting; the chair's closing referred hopefully to future concrete decisions and a 2027 action plan. Outcomes - Themes 1, 4 and 5 became the working focus for the breakout exercise; the chair characterized the discussion as a majority recommendation to initiate a next-year work plan for the UAC and community, not as a recorded vote. - The transcript records no formal adoption of the station proposals; closing remarks looked forward to concrete decisions and an action plan for the 2027 work plan. Agreed actions - The facilitator stated that after the session, input from on-site and remote participants would be evaluated and further discussed at the next UAC meeting. Possible follow-ups (inferred) - The committee may need to confirm leads for the proposed mail-software survey and testbed collaboration; Maria suggested she could lead the survey and suggested the Armenian registry could help lead an AI testbed project, but these were suggestions, not decisions. - The UAC could clarify whether themes 1, 4 and 5 are formally adopted as 2027 work-plan priorities, since the record shows a majority recommendation rather than a vote. Open questions - Who will lead each proposed action, and how does that depend on whether registries or governments lead nationally? - What happens if no registry agrees to implement the proposed product? - Will themes 1, 4 and 5 be formally adopted, and how will remote input be incorporated?
