13 applications for .agent. We're one of them.

ICANN has published the 2026 application list: 13 applicants are seeking .agent, including Google, OpenAI, Meta, and Open Agent Registry, Inc. Here is why our community application is still the one we believe in.

13 applications for .agent. We're one of them.

We knew we would not be the only ones applying for .agent. Now we know who else is on the list: 13 applicants, including Google, OpenAI, Meta, and us. That is a serious field. Domain Name Wire reported the list.

You can explore the applications in ICANN's official application directory. Search for agent. Ours is listed under Open Agent Registry, Inc., the entity that operates Agent Community.

Seeing those names alongside ours makes this feel very real. But it does not change why we applied.

We want the people building and operating agents to have a meaningful say in how a proposed .agent namespace would be run. Whether you are an independent developer, a researcher, a small team, or a large company, you should have a place in that conversation.

That is why we filed a community application. We wrote about what we submitted and why, including the proposed commitments to community governance and accountability. Those commitments are the substance of our bid, not just the message around it.

For us, the question behind .agent is simple: when an agent does something on your behalf, can someone check who stands behind it?

If the TLD is approved and delegated, we want a .agent name to help answer that question. Not just a memorable address, but a way to establish that a real person or organization accepts responsibility for the agent operating under it. That is what our proposed registration policies are designed to support.

This is also why the word proposed matters. ICANN has published the applications, but .agent has not been approved or delegated. The evaluation and contention-resolution process is still ahead, and the application status can change as the 2026 Round proceeds. ICANN's Reveal Day announcement explains the published timeline and next stages.

Today is a milestone, not a decision.

To everyone who has joined the community, signed an endorsement, come to an event, contributed to an open work stream, or helped us work through this application: thank you. There is a lot still to do, but this is a moment worth sharing.

We are on the list. Now we keep building.
