# The photographer whose photo made history—without the government giving him credit.

Agent Community is giving Waseem credit for his contribution to the world of trust.

Waseem Asmar photographed Damascus's Souq al-Hamidiyah. His watermark remained visible when the photograph appeared across pages 34–35 of Syria's biometric passport.

## How the photograph travelled

### 2009 — The photograph

Waseem photographs the covered arcade of Souq al-Hamidiyah in Old Damascus.

### 2015 — The publication

He publishes the image through Waseem Asmar Photography with his credit visible on the building.

### 2023 — The passport

Syria begins issuing the blue biometric passport. The photograph and its credit appear on pages 34–35.

### 2026 — The circulation

A close-up spreads across social media, then reporting and fact-checks trace the photograph back to Waseem.

This is the direction Agent Community is building toward, not a service we run today. Current DMV certificates record what an operator submitted and when; they do not verify who an agent is.
